Here’s a great high-visibility sweatshirt from Polar WorkTuff. It’s made of 100% polyester in a bright green/yellow color (some call it lime), with 2″ silver reflective stripes around the torso, up over the shoulders and two around each sleeve. It meets the ANSI Class 3 standard, so it’s among the most visible of all the high-visibility garments you can buy.

I like it because it’s a heavier-weight sweatshirt than most I’ve seen. This gives it a feeling of higher quality, and it’s sure to be one of the warmest sweatshirts out there.
It comes with a drawstring hood, but the hood is attached with snaps, so you can remove it if you want. You can have the “hoodie” look, or you can wear it just as a sweatshirt with no hood. I like having choices.
It’s also got a high-quality zipper down the front and two front slash pockets for keeping your hands warm. Knit ribbed cuffs on the sleeves and a knit ribbed waistband further reinforce the feeling of quality.
It’s machine washable, and it will remain ANSI compliant for up to 25 washings if you follow the care instructions on the label.

Big and Tall Hi Vis Workwear

High visibility apparel doesn’t always come in all shapes in sizes, but workers do. That’s why we have plenty of big and tall safety vest and hi vis clothing options at eSafetyStore.
Long sleeve reflective t shirts should be made to fit everyone, not just the average-sized worker.
Let’s face it, a few years ago sizing for hi vis clothing sucked (pardon my French). A slew of imports meant that you were rolling the dice when ordering what you thought was your ideal sized safety vest or reflective t shirt. The market has improved, and sizing has gotten better (thankfully, because there’s really nothing quite like a beer gut snugly held in place by a fluorescent yellow t shirt that’s two sizes too small). But one group had to wait a little longer before seeing their sizing needs met…the big and tall workers of America.
A few years ago we started receiving calls from outdoor workers asking for tall sizes in everything from hi vis rain jackets and reflective pants to reflective t shirts and hi vis sweatshirts. It wasn’t always easy to track down the hi vis safety apparel for our larger friends on the road construction crew. Berne apparel managed to recognize the big and tall worker before a lot of other safety clothing manufacturers, and thankfully they’ve been a part of eSafetyStore and Cold Weather Workwear for a long time.
Lately, it seems like it’s been a little easier finding bigger sizes in hi vis gear, and it should be. Workers slaving away on highway construction projects have a lot to worry about–traffic barreling past them at 50 miles per hour, texting teenagers, heavy equipment rumbling by, etc. Big and tall workers shouldn’t also have to worry about a pair of Class E hi vis pants riding up on them or a tiny “one size fits all” traffic safety vest fitting like a bright yellow sausage casing.
It’s clear that worker comfort wasn’t too much of a concern a few years ago. Thankfully, now some manufacturers seem to be adding comfort into the hi vis apparel equation.
High Visibility Sweatshirt Sale – 30% OFF

I have a warehouse full of high visibility sweatshirts. That’s a good thing, because it can get cold in my office at the worldwide headquarters of eSafetyStore. For some reason, it’s the chilliest at this time of year when the temperature hovers in the 50s (perhaps it’s the fact that our back warehouse door is always open… and my office is in the back of the building).
Lacrosse makes a darn fine hi vis sweatshirt.
In my vast experience with hi vis safety clothing, I’ve discovered that the reflective sweatshirt is the most comfortable piece of reflective apparel out there. A hooded sweatshirt on the jobsite offers comfort, warmth, visibility, and usually a couple of nice big hand warmer pockets.
Pullover sweatshirt and zipper front sweatshirt styles give workers some options when choosing their hi vis work gear. And while several manufacturers exist, two of our favorites right now are M.L. Kishigo and Lacrosse (both of which are incidentally 30% OFF until it gets warm). The two-tone zipper front reflective sweatshirts by M.L. Kishigo have black on the lower torso to hide dirt and grime (unfortunate side effects of road work or construction jobs). The Lacrosse pullover hooded sweatshirt is one of the most well-made that we’ve seen. It’s 300g knit polyester with a fleece lining and it’s so comfortable you’d almost consider wearing it out when you don’t need high visibility apparel (or maybe just want to make sure that people can see you). It also has nifty thumb holes in the knit wrists and make the sleeves easy to slide under gloves.
Pretty soon, summer will be here and hi vis safety vests and reflective t shirts will be the rage. For now, it’s all about hi vis sweatshirts. I know that my hoodie keeps me warm in my 55 degree office…I think it’s time to put it on.
