Flip to Listen Earplugs by Moldex

The Most Cleverly Designed New Earplugs at esafetystore.com

It’s not often that you see inspired innovation when it comes to boring old reusable earplugs. But the new Flip to Listen Earplugs from Moldex are decidedly different. And they are too clever to not mention.

Green Flip to Listen Earplugs

The ingenious 6770 Flip to Listen Earplugs

Here is what makes them cool. Each earplug has a “flip cap” in the stem. When the cap is shut the earplugs provide a respectably high NRR of 24 dB. But, and this is the really clever part, when the cap is flipped open, the earplugs provide an NRR of just 4 dB. This allows the wearer to hear and communicate easily with co-workers without having to remove the earplugs.

The earplugs have a triple-flange design which helps ensure a secure fit and all-day comfort, they come with a convenient Pocket-Pak and a cord which can be easily attached, and they’re 100% PVC free.

Flip to Listen Earplugs have a design that just makes sense. It’s really no surprise that they were developed by Moldex, because Moldex has been developing trusted safety products with the needs of workers in mind for years.

Heat Stress Prevention, Make it Personal

Making Heat Stress Prevention Personal at esafetystore.com

CoolShirt Systems

When a worker on a hot summer job site starts experiencing dizziness and nausea, heat stress may have already set in. That’s where the SafeTemp Personal Heat Stress Alarm comes into play. The ingenious device from CoolShirt sounds a 69 dB alarm when a worker’s skin temperature reaches 100 degrees Fahrenheit (which can signal a core body temperature of 103 degrees). The alarm lets a worker know that it’s time to cool off, take a break and hydrate.

SafeTemp Alarm

SafeTemp Alarm

The beauty of the SafeTemp alarm is that it’s unobtrusive. It isn’t some large, bulky piece of equipment. Nope, the alarm is a 1-1/2″ diameter disk that weighs just 6 grams. It fastens to the brim of a hat or to a hard hat suspension. It can also be attached directly to the skin (behind the ear) with an adhesive patch. The alarm is powered by a one-year battery and features LEDs that inform workers when the unit is working properly and alert users when battery life is low.

Heat-induced illness is a serious concern for summer workers, and roughly 700 people die from heat stroke in the U.S. each year. The SafeTemp alarm is a huge step toward preventing heat stress and ensure that it doesn’t progress into heat stress.

Mine Safety and Health Administration logoThere’s still plenty of work to be done when it comes to workplace safety. An article in the Elko Daily last week explained third quarter research by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Mine Safety and Health Administration. The report stated that between July 1 and Sep. 30 there were a total of nine mining fatalities in the United States.

The report included some extremely sobering quotes by Joseph Main, the assistant secretary of labor for mine safety and health.

“While the number of mining deaths was lower than in the same period last year, miners continue to die in accidents that could have been prevented, such as by using proximity detection equipment,” the article quoted Main as saying. “In metal/nonmetal mining, fatalities continue to occur that could be prevented using lock out/tag out best practices. Two of the fatalities this quarter could have been avoided by disconnecting the power, ensuring the miner on the job had locked the power source in the safe position and tagging to prevent the power from being re-energized.”

Attention to safety in a dangerous workplace should never big ignored. The information in the article is a grim reminder that unfortunately, that isn’t always the case.

ANSI Hi Vis 2-in-1 Style JK08 Waterproof Two-Tone Class 3 Bomber Jacket with Zip-Out Heavyweight Fleece Liner

Black color hides the dirt – jacket looks cleaner longer

Here’s a great idea.  What part of your jacket always gets dirtiest first?  The bottom and the ends of the sleeves, right?  While still maintaining its Class 3 high visibility, this jacket is black at the bottom and the ends of the sleeves. Why?  Can’t see the dirt as easily, that’s why.  And when you can’t see the dirt, the jacket looks cleaner longer.

Warm fleece liner zips out to create a lightweight jacket for warmer weather.

Sometimes it’s hard to predict what the weather will be like.  Will it be a cold day, or will it warm up later?  With this jacket, you’re prepared for both.  If it’s cold, leave the fleece liner in.  If it gets too warm, just zip out the liner and you’ve got the lightweight jacket you need for a warmer day.

Silver reflective stripes on the torso and arms for high-visibility safety.  Meets ANSI/ISEA 107-2010 Class 3 standards.

Elastic ribbed knitted waist and cuffs keep out the cold.  The fleece collar is warm and cozy.  A detachable hood, stored in the collar, is handy when you need it.  Mic tabs on each shoulder.  Zipper front closure.

There are two inside breast pockets, an inside zipper mesh pocket, outside slash pockets lined with smooth polyester, and an outside cell phone pocket on the chest.

Warm Fleece liner zips out to create lightweight jacket

Weather can be fickle.  You think it’s going to be cold, and it turns out to be warm.  With this jacket, that’s no problem. Too warm?  Just zip out the heavy fleece liner, and you’ve got the perfect jacket for warmer weather.  Raining?  No problem.  This jacket’s polyurethane-coated polyester outer layer is completely waterproof, and all the seams are taped to make sure it stays that way.

3-in-1 Bomber Jacket with Zip-Out Quilted Liner/Jacket – FREE SHIPPING!

Three jackets in one means superb value!

On cold, wet days, wear this Class 3 weather-resistant polyester jacket with its quilted liner in place for maximum warmth.  Zip out the quilted polyester liner and you’ve got a lighter weight jacket that is still hi vis and still weather resistant.  The third jacket?  The quilted liner is itself a lightweight jacket, perfect when high visibility is not needed.

High visibility with 3M™ scotchlite™ silver reflective tape

2″-wide 3M™ Scotchlite™ silver reflective tape is mounted on contrasting colored material for maximum visibility, and 3M Scotchlite tape is among the very brightest available in the market.  Reflective piping on the arms, shoulders and hood illuminates the worker’s torso for greater visibility and enhanced safety.

Two-tone design hides the dirt

On other jackets, the bottom and the ends of the sleeves always get dirty first, and soon the jacket requires cleaning.  But with this design, the black bottom and sleeve ends hide the dirt, so the jacket looks cleaner longer and does not require cleaning as often.

Jacket includes a hood with a drawstring.  The hood stows away in the collar when not needed.  Adjustable hook-and-loop cuffs tighten up to keep the wind and rain out.  The zipper front closure features a storm flap that snaps closed for greater weather resistance.

Two outside lower slash pockets have zipper closures.  The upper left chest cell phone pocket has a hook-and-loop flap to secure your cell phone, and there’s an inside wallet pocket.

meets ansi/isea 107-2010 class 3 standards

Hi Vis Shirts: Perfect for Summer Visibility

Buy Now at eSafetyStore!

Not that long ago, options in hi vis were fairly limited, and the bulk of what was available was in the form of basic traffic safety vests.

Thankfully, options are much more plentiful now and the basic hi vis shirt has become commonplace. High visibility in shirt form means comfort in a piece of hi vis apparel, and the end to saggy, ill-fitting mesh safety vests.

The choices for hi vis shirts are seemingly limitless. Mesh hi vis t-shirts are lightweight and cool, while ANSI class 2 or class 3 shirts made of bird’s-eye polyester wick sweat for an even greater level of comfort on the summer jobsite.

Yellow hi vis polo shirt

Even hi vis shirts can look nice.

For those who like their hi vis apparel to be a little more refined, there are even several choices of hi vis polo shirts out there. That’s right, collared shirts that just happen to have reflective stripes. They’re ideal for site managers or foremen, or supposedly for anyone headed to the golf course after a tough day on the job (actually the silver reflective stripes might be a little distracting on the links).

When fall’s chill starts creeping into the forecast, long sleeve high visibility shirts do the trick before you need to pull out the reflective bomber jacket.

There really is hi vis gear for any season. Thankfully there’s plenty of it to make sure workers don’t overheat in the summer. Head to eSafetyStore.com now to find the hi vis shirts for you. Enter “take10″ in the coupon field at checkout and get 10 percent off.

See the entire line of hi visibility products at eSafetyStore. And don’t forget that your logo can be easily added to most hi vis shirts to set your work crew apart.
